Author Interview Sandi Bischoff
Welcome March's author interview guest, Author Sandi Bischoff. Loved her answers and I have to say I agree with her answer to question #7, though there's a couple of other books I'd like to "visit" as well.
1. Do you remember the first book you read that had an impact on you - in what way and what was the name of that book?
I would have to say it was The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. We read it as an in class assignment in Sixth grade. Not many books at that time had the ability to completely suck me into the story. But, the characters were so well developed and simply spoke to me in a way no other character ever did before. Maybe it was the fact Grease came out a couple years before, I don’t know. The characters were ages I could identify with. It may have also been the first time I was exposed to the “Bad Boy” personality. We all know how that can entice a girl.
2. When did you first realize you wanted to write?
I tried my hand at poetry while in High School but it never really stuck. The writing bug actually to hold when I hit my early 30’s. I was a member of an online written roleplay group playing a few different characters. It was out of that group the idea for my first novel was born. I haven’t looked back since.
3. Who is/are your favourite author(s)?
My favorite authors are Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward and Diana Gabaldon for traditional publications. In the Indie world, I can’t choose a favorite. I absolutely love every one of them I have read.
4. What is your favourite thing about writing? What is your least favourite thing writing?
My favorite thing about writing is creating the characters. I tend to pool together personality traits from myself as well as others I know. However, no character is modeled after any single person.
My least favorite is probably not having the time to finish all of the stories I have planned. Time is such a precious commodity and I have found as I am getting older it is harder to fit writing into my daily schedule. I would love to be a full time writer. It’s just not feasible at this time.
5. Where do your ideas come from?
I get my inspiration from music, the news and just plain life experiences.
6. I’ve often found that creative people have more than one talent, what is yours?
I love to paint, make jewelry and keychains and all kinds of cooking.
7. If you could jump inside of a book for one day (as an observer) what book would it be?
Outlander. Hands down.
8. When you create characters are they completely made up or do they resemble or remind you of people you know?
(see #4)
9. Have you ever created a character “out of thin air” only to run into someone in real life that reminds you of that character either in personality or their features?
No, not as of yet.
10. What are you working on now and can you tell us about it?
I am currently working on the fourth book in my Dark Order Series. It’s called Giovanna ~ A Tale As Old As Time. You could probably guess from the title it is a Beauty and the Beast novel.
I’ll share the blurb with you:
Descending from a long line of Sirens, Giovanna Ferrante is a beauty with the voice of an angel. After a violent introduction to a world she never knew existed, Giovanna became a pawn for the vampire princess, Absinthe Dragoni. She was a weapon in their world, her voice an instrument to control the masses.
Her story would have ended there had her son not made a deal with the Devil.
The son of a wealthy English Earl, Bastian Deveraux was considered quite a catch by the match making mothers of the English Court. But when he spurns the affections of a beautiful woman who controls the power of song, she curses him to live out his life as a winged beast for eternity.
However, she does give him hope; he must find a Siren and fall in love before the end of his two hundredth year. Only, that will be harder than it seems. The Siren must be one of her kin and be willing to die for him.
Now, as his curse is about to become his eternal Hell, Bastian is given the task of protecting a Beauty who can either save him or seal his fate as a Beast forever.
